I can offer parking for 1 more small to medium size RV’s in Madras during the eclipse. We have 5 members staying at this time. This is on a first come, first serve basis. The rate for the weekend will be $50 cash. The money will be given to my mother inlaw to help with her yard care. Reservation must me made through me and in advance.
These are DRY camp only on private property. There are no hookups other than that I can run a hose across the driveway to top off fresh water tanks. This means NO tent camping. There is no restroom access or no showers.
This will be a good location for shooting the corona. You may look at it and decide there are some foreground elements that you can work in for wide shots.
The location is on Culver Highway about a mile South of Fairgrounds Road.
We will be setting up on the North Side of her property. The area is on a slight hill. If you are parked East-West you should be able to block to get level. The flattest spots will go to motor homes as it is easier to level a trailer.
If you have not been to Madras, it is a town of about 5000 people. They are expecting between 50,000 and 70,000 people there for eclipse weekend. It is going to be a total zoo and gridlock. Do not plan on eating in restaurants. Do not plan on going to the grocery store. Stock your supplies in your RV BEFORE heading over the hill. You may want to stop in Redmond on the way over and top off your gas tank. I am very serious here people. It is not going to be pretty. Bring your food, wine and beer, and lawn chairs along with your barbecue. We will just make a weekend out of it in the pasture. BTW… there has been no stock in the pasture for 25 years. It is clean and does not smell.
I am going to try to get out of here Thursday morning so I can be there as others come in to help them get parked and set up.
Below are some images of the area. (click for full size image) The setup area will be within the area semi enclosed by the white fence on the right side of the images.
