Your summer challenge assignment is to make an interesting photo of a “Trail”.  We did something similar last year for the summer break (Roads), however, the response and images were awesome, so I decided to change it up a little for this upcoming summer challenge.

So, for this trails challenge, lets include trails that are unpaved, paved, boardwalks, stairs, garden paths, a trail to the outhouse, or crossing a foot bridge, and pretty much anything else I may have missed (I think you’re getting the idea here).

People, pets, and wildlife using the trails are fine and you could even get down low and close in and photograph the pebbles if you wish. Although, urban sidewalks can make for compelling photos, but I think the surroundings would have to be something very special to qualify as a scenic trail.

Since we have a nice long summer break, try photographing a trail in the country by showing its place among the local scenery. They can also be the main focus of your composition or a minor part of another story as they can be color, or in black and white. Your trails(s) can use leading lines, or just be as simple as tracks going to the beach – the choice is yours.
