Thibault Roland “Long Exposure”
As a fine art photographer with a background in physics, he explores the powerful intersection of science and art, transforming complex scientific principles into compelling visual narratives. Drawing inspiration from concepts such as relativity, Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle, and the observer effect, his work delves into how these ideas shape our perception of time, space, and reality.
Through techniques like long exposure to express the passage of time, infrared photography to reveal the invisible, and tilt-shift lenses to challenge traditional spatial cues, he creates images that bridge the gap between the tangible and the abstract. His work invites viewers to rediscover scientific wonder while also confronting pressing environmental concerns, encouraging a thoughtful examination of humanity’s relationship with the natural world.
Thibault also teaches his craft for photography groups across the USA. He is also a repeat lecturer for stores such as B&H, and leads workshops in the United States and France.
His fine art photographs have been shown, published and awarded internationally and are included in public and private collections such as at the Boston Athenaeum. He has been published internationally by Lenswork (USA), Chasseur d’Images (Fr), Landscape Photography Magazine (UK) among others.
